Donnie Rubenack

Born and raised in Whatcom County, Donnie’s education in photography began at Spokane Falls College. In 1986, he joined his parents, Don and Janet Rubenack, and the team at Donette Studio. Donnie strongly believes in continuing education in all aspects of the industry to keep up-to-date in a world of changing technology. In 2000, he took over the business from his parents and began the transformation from film to digital, and in 2003 he added a full color lab to the new facility on Hannegan Road.

Donnie has been involved in many photography organizations where he has been recognized with many awards and trophies and has earned his Associate Degree in photography. Some of his accomplishments include:

– Trophy for "Best Wedding Candid" (for two consecutive years)
– Trophy for "Best Wedding Portrait"
– "Fuji Masterpiece" Award
– "Judges Choice" Award, along with many others

Because Donnie strives for the highest levels of excellence in photography, he has been able to, and continues to, work with some of the most prominent families in Whatcom and Skagit Counties. His list continues with some of the following Country Western and Rock & Roll “Headliner Bands” that he has had the privilege to photograph: Diamond Rio, Creedance ClearWater Revisited, Tracy Clark, Lyle Lovett, John Hyatt, Doobie Brothers, Charlie Daniels Band, Ziggy Marley, Miranda Lambert, Merl Haggard, Ted Nugent, Styx, Ronnie Milsap, Mercy Me, Third Day, and Jars of Clay.

When Donnie is not behind the camera, he may be hard to find, but his greatest joy is spending time with his son, Carson.
